Repair MySQL Database of Your WordPress Blog

Last week, I found that all the posts from my wife’s blog Vedics (https://vedics.in) are gone. Search bar, sidebar, widgets and menus were visible but I couldn’t see any posts. Vedics is a high performing blog established in year 2016 with 540+ articles on food, spirituality & travel. Loosing all the content suddenly was a bummer for us. I mean we do have content backup of Vedics, but restoring backup and bringing Vedics back to production would have taken at least 3 working days considering restoring the latest backup from archives and most importantly, the kind of lazy person I think I’m.  😉

Forgot your WiFi password? Here’s how you can retrieve it on Windows OS

You know it’s possible that someone doesn’t remember his/her WiFi password anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if you tell me that you no longer remember your WiFi password and all of your devices such as Laptops, Workstations, Mobile Phones, TVs etc. are already connected to your existing WiFi connection and they work just fine.

Anyway, here’s how you can retrieve your WiFi on you Windows 10 machine.

Open Sourcing My Android App “Vedic Sangrah”

In January 2020, I successfully released an Android app targeted for people who belong to Indian subcontinent doing prayer, meditation, japa, yoga and worship on day to day basis. The idea of creating this app came from my family members who are avid mobile users and using books to read mantras and katha’s during prayers. The inconvenience was noticed when they were unable to find specific text or mantra in the books and had to refer internet articles which were doped or incomplete. Also, another issue was they couldn’t carry all the books when they are travelling.

In a nutshell, Vedic Sangrah app was created by keeping above mentioned challenges in mind. It is a growing collection of all popular Katha’s, Aarti, Chalisa, Stotram’s and Kaand. This app works offline, without internet once it is downloaded from Play Store and it’s completely advertisement free. No ads ever.

It’s easy to stop apps tracking your location all the time

I have 70+ applications on my Android phone and I use few of them frequently, such as Messenger apps (WhatsApp, Skype & Telegram), News, Shopping, Entertainment & Productivity apps . Everything else just sits idle on my phone and wait for their call.

During a random audit of apps permissions on my phone, it was identified that there are MANY apps that are tracking my location all the time. In other words, tracking my movements all the time. They are legitimate apps and they already know how many times I’ve been out from my home during COVID-19 lock down period and which shop I went to purchase something. So, let’s see how did I reset apps permissions and stopped them from tracking my location all the time. This appears be a start of implementing RBAC (Role based access control) in personal tech, which is good thing. 🙂
